The announcement
Google’s September 10 release notes announce a Gemini Windows app for Windows 10 or later, with an Alt + Space shortcut. The notes describe access to Google-app connections, image generation, and research features.
What to take from it
This is a product-access update. A desktop app does not, by itself, mean its model runs locally. When comparing it with another assistant, look at the work you can reach from the app and the service settings you will use.
